Entry to the cafe is free, but you can also enter the park and walk among birds from around Australia and the world. Meet the keeper at 11am or discover for yourself how local efforts to conserve and rehabilitate threatened and endangered species are making a real difference.
Take your time to explore walk-in aviaries, bring a small gift of blue for the bowerbird and visit the website or Facebook page to check the calendar of events.
Open 10am to 3pm (4pm in summer). Last entry is 30 minutes prior to close.
The Rodley’s family home on the edge of Tathra is the farm gate for the award-winning Sydney Rock Oysters. Stroll past over two decades of awards and memorabilia on your way to the custom built oyster shop out the back where you can have a yarn to Gary, Jo or one of the kids and even get a lesson in oyster shucking. Available December to June.
The oysters are grown in Nelson Lake, a thriving, shallow lake around 12 kilometres north of Tathra in Mimosa Rocks National Park. It opens to the sea via a beautiful sheltered Nelson Lagoon, a popular place for swimming, fishing and short bush walks.
Tathra Beach Cafe
Tathra Beach Cafe has great food and welcoming service, right on the beach at Tathra with spectacular views of the coast – there is no other place quite like it!
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it is a great place to dine or just relax with a drink & enjoy the view. The kitchen is open all day with a limited menu in the afternoon. Lunch & dinner pivots around a tapas menu that changes regularly featuring fresh, seasonal, local produce. The specials board is also regularly changing so when there’s “Fish of the Day”, you know it’s fresh.
